Our dream
Within five years, there will be Volkskeukens at ten locations in The Hague. We see it as a great necessity in this time that we learn to care for each other again . And that can be done in a fun way by meeting each other, cooking together and eating together.
Besides being able to meet each other, we also need each other.
We are given the opportunity to take the next step with De Volkskeuken & the bakery. A step that is necessary to realize our dream. An investment is needed for this step and every contribution, big or small, is equally valuable.
The Volkskeuken & the bakery have the opportunity to expand! And that expansion is necessary to stimulate the growth of the Volkskeuken, but also to increase the capacity of the bakery.
Liselotte is the initiator of the Volkskeuken and owner of the bakery. The bakery is the commercial sister of the Volkskeuken. The bakery supports De Volkskeuken financially and facilitates the purchasing. The bakery is located in The New Farm, a place with many local entrepreneurs from The Hague. An extra space has been created in the department. This offers an opportunity that Liselotte seizes with both hands.
This extra space will expand the bakery's capacity. In addition, the space will fulfill two new functions for De Volkskeuken. The New Farm will be the logistics hub for the various locations and we will realize a fermentation and preservation workshop.
An investment is needed for the expansion
which consists of several parts:
Technical adjustments
Preparing the workspace. Think of placing workbenches, tiling a wall and technical adjustments that ensure that we can work together in a good and safe way.
Purchase equipment
Purchase of various equipment and materials. Think of machines to process large quantities of vegetables, fermentation tanks and a second oven.
Direct purchases from producers
Direct purchase from producers in Portugal. Think of olive oil, nuts, beans, rice, chickpeas and herbs. We want to have a pallet shipped over. The pallet is good for cooking and baking for a whole year.
